R&D Teachers
Over 100 SFUSD teachers serving grades PreK–12 and representing more than 60 schools across the district have been coming together for a series of release days since Summer of 2013. These teachers have committed to be a part of in-depth study of the CCSS-M, designing units of instruction that address the CCSS-M which include embedded formative and summative assessments, and piloting units in their classrooms next year.
This diverse group of educators provides practice-based knowledge and expertise that are vital to the development of a comprehensive set of curricular resources that will meet the unique needs of diverse SFUSD students. |
Pilot Teachers
What's it like to teach the Core Curriculum Units? Find out! |
In addition to the 100+ R&D teachers who will be piloting the new CCSS-M-based units, over 300 teachers across the district have been and continue to pilot these new units.
Teachers are provided with an orientation including an overview of the CCSS-M, unit materials, support from the mathematics department and an opportunity to shape the Core Curriculum and expose their students to the new challenges and deeper learning of CCSS-M. Pilot teachers share their experiences and samples of student work through response groups and surveys in order to improve the quality and clarity of the units. Every effort is being made to involve as many teachers as possible in the development and piloting of these new materials. |
