US students lag other countries in math. The reason probably lies in how schools teach it. - 2/28/2020 – This article in USA Today discusses how different approaches to math education may lead to higher achievement, and describes how changes in how SFUSD teaches math have led to a major increase in disadvantaged students enrolling in higher-level math classes as juniors and seniors.

Distance Learning Resources

Elementary Math Content Priorities
​We have released a revised scope and sequence for each grade adjusted for distance learning. These documents also link to content priority documents and slide decks that will be created for every unit as the year progresses.
Elementary Math Recommendations for 2020-21
​Secondary lessons contain proprietary content that is licensed by SFUSD and therefore can not be shared. This document provides Resources for Parents of High School Math Students.

SFUSD Math Core Curriculum

  • The entire Elementary SFUSD Math Core Curriculum is now available to all under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY).
  • This includes Grades PK, K-5, the combined 4/5 Curriculum, and the K-2 and 3-5 curricula for multi-age classrooms.​
  • Secondary and TK curricula are only accessible to SFUSD teachers.
