High School Core Curriculum Revision 2016-2017

​Our SFUSD Math Core Curriculum is undergoing another round of revision based on feedback from teachers all across the district. 

In High School, the general structure and format of units are not changing.
​A calendar will be included to help teachers with monthly and yearly planning.​

Revisions by Course

Algebra 1
  • Scope & Sequence: Pacing is being revised based on math classes meeting four days per week to address the use of a weekly block period in most high schools. Statistics is moving to earlier in the year because technology is used for testing at the end of the year. Otherwise, scope and sequence is remaining the same.
  • Tasks & Lessons: Most remaining the same, with minor revisions.​

Geometry
  • Scope & Sequence: Pacing is being revised based on math classes meeting four days per week to address the use of a weekly block period in most high schools. Most units will be slightly shorter, especially Similarity and the last two units in the second semester. Otherwise, scope and sequence is remaining the same.
  • Tasks & Lessons: Most remaining the same, with minor revisions.

Algebra 2
  • Scope & Sequence: Pacing is being revised based on math classes meeting four days per week to address the use of a weekly block period in most high schools. Units A2.1 and A2.2 are being shortened and resequenced based on teacher feedback, and a new unit is being added on Inverses and Logarithms. The Modeling unit is moving to the end of second semester. 
  • Tasks & Lessons: Most remaining the same (but possibly resequenced), with minor revisions.

Algebra 2 + Precalculus
  • Scope & Sequence: Pacing is being revised based on math classes meeting four days per week to address the use of a weekly block period in most high schools. . 
  • Tasks & Lessons: Most remaining the same, with minor revisions.

Delivery of teacher and student materials

All first semester units will be delivered in August
  • Available electronically by the end of June
All second semester units will be delivered in December
  • Available electronically by the end of November
