SFUSD Dimensions for Teaching and Learning
The SFUSD Dimensions for Teaching and Learning is an interdisciplinary framework that describes three essential aspects of powerful teaching and learning: Agency, Authority, and Identity; Access to Content; and Uses of Assessment. It was designed in collaboration with the SFUSD Mathematics, Humanities (English/Language Arts and Social Studies), and Science Departments and supports SFUSD in applying unified definitions of High Quality Instruction across discipline and grade level. It also identifies district-wide opportunities for professional learning.

A major inspiration for the Dimensions was the Teaching for Robust Understanding (TRU) Framework. The TRU Framework was developed to help educators envision and work toward mathematically powerful classrooms. It was a collaboration of many organizations, including the Mathematics Assessment Project and the Algebra Teaching Study (a project of UC Berkeley and Michigan State University).
