## PreK–8 Schools Math Professional Development Structures

## Teacher Leaders

Elementary and K–8 Teacher Leaders meet for a half-day in the summer to set math goals for the school year and plan the math launch for their site. In addition, they have one fall site release day to meet as a Math Leadership Team to plan on-site PD for the year to meet their goals with support from the Math Department.

## Site Based Support

Site Math Leadership teams work in collaboration with elementary Math Content Specialists to design and support collaboration and learning structures. The learning structures include in-depth study of the standards, Lab Classrooms, and Lesson Study. Sites are then focusing on learning about one of the

**NCTM Mathematics Teaching Practices**, and considering how to use the three Signature Strategies (**Math Talks, Three Read Protocol, Participation Quiz/Groupwork Feedback**), the**5 Practices, student discourse**, and**Math Notebooks**to address this practice.
